about

Osiris-1's "The XII Gates" is a conceptual album based on the twelve gates of the egyptian afterlife. The idea is once a pharaoh has passed and been prepped to be mummified he would then partake upon a journey into the underworld, along with his belongings, pets.. anything that will be able to assist him. The XII Gates gives the listener a passengers point of view as you enter the realm by boat on a river descending deep into the abyss of hell. The gates themselves represent the 12 hours of the night, from nightfall to dawn. Each gate is protected by gods and serpents who challenge the pharaoh unless he is able to name and identify each one. The album features a unique twist on the story adding different dimensions and characters including King Osiris himself who is said to feed the souls of the wicked to his serpents, where they would be aten and forever burn in the lake of fire.

As you proceed through the twelve gates you encounter various demons, mummies and gods, until you find yourself at the end, rising with the sun as the god Ra.

"The XII Gates" features: Approach, Sigrah, Max Gall, Ebony Tusks and Nate Holt
